Aziz Foundation Logo 2 - 500x126

The Aziz Foundation is an independent grant-making body dedicated to supporting the most disadvantaged communities in Britain. It strives to do this through supporting community empowerment and leadership development in these communities, and greater public engagement by them in wider society.

The Foundation is offering two Masters Scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year as described below. These scholarships offer a unique opportunity for exceptional students active in British Muslim communities and interested in how their needs may be met through the creative and expressive arts.

The Arts Management Scholarship

The objective of this scholarship is to help develop a pool of arts management professionals and practitioners who understand the role of arts policy and practice in promoting social inclusion and regeneration, and who are able to apply this to British Muslim communities in light of their understanding of these communities and their diverse and rich cultures.

The Artists Scholarship

The objective of this scholarship is to assist individual Muslim artists and to help develop a pool of creatives in British Muslim communities who contribute towards creating a vibrant British Muslim arts and culture scene.

The Aziz Foundation believes that communities rich in celebrating their arts and culture make confident communities – confident in their own identity and ready to reach out to contribute to society as a whole. The Foundation is keen, however, to support students who would like to pursue a career in the arts and culture domain not just to benefit Muslims, but all communities, in pursuit of their specific and common goals that will help create a more cohesive Britain.

The successful applicants will be selected through their application to and interview by the Aziz Foundation directly. The scholarship will cover tuition and living expenses for a year, up to a maximum of £25,000 in total. The courses to be funded under each scholarship are wide-ranging and listed below. The selected individuals will also be supported through a comprehensive personal development scheme offering pastoral, professional and career advice and development during and after their course of study.

Graduate courses are challenging, but hugely rewarding. If you possess the ability and the motivation to be admitted to a reputable institution, you can expect exhilarating intellectual satisfaction, being taught by and working with academics and practitioners who are leaders in their fields. You will also be supported by the Aziz Foundation to develop your knowledge, skills and ideas to enable you to play a part in leading communities towards greater integration in wider British society. The selected individuals will become alumni of their institutions and the Aziz Foundation’s Leadership Development Programme with their powerful networks of friendships and contacts, and their professional careers advisory services.
