Aziz Foundation scholars gathered at the Foundation on Saturday 22 September to attend a workshop on conflict resolution, delivered by Irene Grindell.
Irene, who has over 20 years of conflict resolution experience behind her, delivered a lively, insightful and challenging workshop. She discussed the meaning and psychology behind conflict and went thought the 6 C’s of coaching: collaboration, connection, curiosity, challenge, creativity and change. She very practically highlighted the warning signs of heightened emotion and led us through various exercises including the conflict dot. A live coaching demonstration then helped the scholars to look out for the coaching skills that had discussed earlier. Then it was put to the test with the scholars breaking into smaller groups and practising the conflict coaching principles they had learnt during the day.
The Leadership Support Scheme is a year of workshops and training for our scholarship recipients. During their scholarship period, scholars are offered training days that help develop their personal leadership skills as well as being given opportunities to create meaningful projects which address the needs of their communities.
