Muslim Leaders Development Fund (MLDF) 2018: guidance and information
The Muslim Leaders Development Fund (MLDF) is once again open for applications – the final round of 2018. Since 2017, National Zakat Foundation and the Aziz Foundation have invested in the education and training of 45 emerging leaders through the MLDF – supporting them in a range of areas from language courses to research degrees.
The fund aims to support emerging leaders who can demonstrate a high level of commitment to community service as well as the aspirations to lead and inspire in their respective field. Emerging leaders must have identified education or training that will increase their effectiveness in one of the following three community development areas relating to Islam and Muslims in the UK: Better Public Perception, Effective Representation and Religious Literacy. In this round, we are especially keen to receive applications for the first two strands.
Applications can be made for the funding of courses that are both academic and vocational in nature, including short courses. Examples of types of training that will be supported include writing and project management courses, as well as media training. The maximum grant limit is £10,000 and funding is for up to one academic year.
The application deadline is 6pm on Sunday November 4th. It is anticipated that interviews for shortlisted applicants will take place between November 13th and 15th, with successful applicants notified by November 19th.
