The Foundation is offering a scholarship for the 2018-19 academic year for an exceptional student actively engaged in British Muslim communities and interested in how the needs of these communities may be met through public policy work. The key aim or objective of this scholarship is to help develop a pool of Muslim policy practitioners in Whitehall, important national and local statutory bodies, leading think tanks and key advocacy and service delivery organisations who can bring about policy, legislative and service delivery change in the long term that address the needs of British Muslim communities. Further, the Foundation wishes to support students who would like to pursue a career in public policy not just to benefit Muslim communities, but all communities, in pursuit of their specific and common goals that will help create a more cohesive Britain.
The successful applicant will be selected through an application and interview process managed by the Aziz Foundation directly. The scholarship will cover tuition and living expenses for a year, up to a maximum of £50,000 in total.
Students will additionally be supported through the Aziz Foundation’s Leadership Support Scheme (LSS), which will assist in developing their knowledge-base, personal qualities, leadership skills and professional networks. They will be matched with mentors to support and guide them during and after their study. They will further undertake two short placements with a community related or research organisation and a statutory sector agency respectively.
