Keele University joins Preferred Partner Scheme

The Aziz Foundation is delighted to announce that it will be offering Master’s scholarships at Keele University, where talented British Muslims can receive a scholarship to undertake postgraduate study.

Keele University has become one of the Foundation’s Preferred Partners, having demonstrated a commitment in extending Widening Participation at the postgraduate level as well as reducing education inequalities for minoritised students. The university also provides tailored academic and pastoral support to its Muslim student population.

The institution is in the midst of implementing some significant initiatives to decrease the BAME awarding gap, for instance working towards an institution wide effort to decolonise the curriculum.

Additionally, the University offers social support to British Muslim communities through, amongst other means, a female Muslim chaplain. Along with the Race Equality Officer, the Muslim Chaplain has devised and delivered training to Student Services, the Students’ Union and professional services personnel on Ramadan and how to support students and other staff throughout the month. The University is also committed to combating Islamophobia through its online platform, #NEVEROK, which enables the reporting of racial harassment.

We look forward to working closely with the university to widen access and increase opportunities at the postgraduate taught level for British Muslim communities.
