Aziz Foundation hosts Webinar with debut author Tasneem Abdur-Rashid

The Aziz Foundation hosted debut author Tasneem Abdur-Rashid on 28th September 2022.

Aziz Foundation’s Communications Officer Layla chaired the webinar. Tasneem shared her insight and wisdom into her writing career and discussed the publication of her debut romcom book, ‘‘Finding Mr Perfectly Fine’ which was published in July 2022.

Tasneem Abdur-Rashid is a British Bengali writer born and raised in London. Tasneem, a 2019-2020 Aziz Foundation scholar, graduated with an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck, University of London.

During the webinar, Tasneem shared tips and advice on how to pursue a career as a writer and covered the following topics:

• Advice on how to go from aspiring writer to published author
• Demystifying the literary agent process
• How to get comfortable with rejection as a writer
• Whether writers need to be formally trained in creative writing
• British Muslim representation in books
• Why Tasneem decided to write a romantic comedy with a British Bengali Muslim protagonist
• The need for a writing group and tips on how to find one
