The Aziz Foundation announces Editorial Internship at the Evening Standard
21 July 2022
The Aziz Foundation is delighted to announce that it is offering an Editorial Internship at the Evening Standard for an exceptional British Muslim looking to develop a career in Journalism.
As part of its commitment to increase the representation of British Muslims within journalism, the Foundation works to provide internships to help British Muslims gain the skills, knowledge and expertise required to secure employment as journalists. By working with a number of organisations, the Foundation hopes to improve access and representation for Muslim communities in traditionally underrepresented sectors.
The Editorial Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in research, social media and a range of in-depth projects alongside senior journalists. A demonstrable commitment to the media and experience across print and digital platforms is necessary for the role.
The deadline to apply for this internship is 9am at 22 August 2022. The internship is scheduled to run from 5 September 2022 to 31 March 2023 but there can be some flexibility for the right candidate.
Doug Wills, Editor Emeritus, said: “We are delighted to be working together with the Aziz Foundation to advance The Independent’s diversity in journalism apprenticeship programme. By partnering with the Aziz Foundation, we hope to support more British Muslims in their training to become journalists and encourage more talented young people from diverse backgrounds into the industry.”
We’re grateful to the Independent for their support in this process and their dedication towards improving the opportunities available for underrepresented communities to pursue careers in journalism. We look forward to continuing our work together to ensure that newsrooms can be more diverse and representative.
