Glasgow Caledonian University joins Preferred Partner Scheme
29 March 2022
We are delighted to announce Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) as the latest addition to the Aziz Foundation’s Preferred Partner scheme. The Foundation offers exceptional British Muslims the chance to receive a scholarship to undertake postgraduate study.
GCU has become one of the Foundation’s Preferred Partners, having demonstrated their commitment in extending Widening Participation to the postgraduate level and reducing education inequalities for Black and Minority Ethnic students.
The University is a leader in widening access to higher education in Scotland and is in the top six per cent of universities in the world for social impact. It has a number of initiatives and programmes in place to tackle below average progression rates into higher education including its Contextualised Admissions Policy and the multi-award winning initiative Caledonian Club which works in some of the most deprived areas in the UK. Its Understanding Unconscious Bias online course, helping to address the BME degree awarding gap, will be used to help staff think and work more inclusively.
The University is committed to tackling Islamophobia on campus and increasing its proportion of Muslim postgraduate students. GCU offers social support to British Muslim students through developing the University Religious Observance Policy and its Faith and Belief Centre on campus is specifically dedicated to Muslim students on Fridays.
There are a number of eligible courses for prospective scholars. For more information and to apply please click here.
