Journalism Taster sessions
1 February 2024
The Aziz Foundation has supported journalism taster sessions for British Muslims aspiring to enter the industry. This forms part of the Foundation's Journalism Programme, which aims to assist efforts in diversifying the profession by creating pathways into practice.
The sessions took place over four days in late January, and included activities such as writing exercises, group presentations, and advice on pitching ideas. There were also talks held on the topic of professional career journeys in the industry, as well as tips and reflections from current journalists.
Zahra Jawad, a participant at the taster sessions, commented:
"I would like to thank The Aziz Foundation for making it possible for me to attend these taster days.
The experience has shed so much light on the stepping stones needed to be taken for starting in the Media and Journalism industry.
It was a pleasure to gain insight into the world of media, being educated on the Do's and Don'ts of good journalism.
It has been a huge step for my career and look forward to more opportunities in the near future."
