Thanks to the Aziz Foundation I have been able to complete an MA in Applied Anthropology, Community and Youth Work. During this time, I conducted a dissertation exploring the experiences of young, black, British, Muslim men living in East London.
On a personal and professional level, actively researching and understanding the concerns and daily issues for this marginalised group has been extremely powerful. Through this research and completing over 400 hours’ worth of Youth Work volunteering I have challenged myself as a practitioner and a British Muslim. Moreover, I am delighted to be starting a Youth Worker role in a local authority working with marginalised young people in Manchester.
Being able to complete a Masters and move to London with the support of the Aziz Foundation has been a massive blessing and I have taken the lessons learnt to support the work I will do in my local community.
