MSC GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT, SOAS, UNIVERSITY OF LONDON

Previously, I studied English at UCL, where my experience of a traditional Eurocentric curriculum cultivated interests in empire, colonialism, and its modern legacy in the form of globalisation. Subsequently, I worked in the international education sector in an administrative capacity. I gained insights into the organisation’s wider work regarding the ongoing decolonisation of the curriculum and humanitarian projects.

With the support of the Aziz Foundation, I'm interested in exploring refugee, migrant and diaspora issues, and UN's Sustainable Development Goal 4: quality education. Given the multicultural heritage of the Ummah, I believe a firm understanding of contemporary global issues is key to improving equal opportunities and social justice. In the future, I'd like to undertake further interdisciplinary research on the Islamic world and the Silk Roads.

Outside of work and study, I enjoy zentangle doodling, collecting postcards on my travels, and volunteering at the Cambridge eco-mosque.
