As an aspiring immigration barrister, I recognise how changes in UK legislation demonstrate a political agenda which has infiltrated the law, vilifying asylum seekers as a result.
In pursuing the Bar Practise Course LLM, I intend to help improve the experiences of Muslim and racialised applicants in court, many of whom are asylum seekers. Relying on my advocacy skills, I will continue engaging with pro-bono work, ensuring Muslim applicants in particular feel reassured that they will be represented fairly and compassionately.
Additionally, I want to encourage greater discussion within chambers, enabling other barristers to acknowledge and actively work towards an Islamophobia free legal environment. Consequently, I hope to advocate for a more an inclusive legal system.
