As an emerging field, data science will continue playing a critical role in how we behave especially as industries move towards using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Algorithmic personalisation has the potential to change public perception; however, with the lack of representation in the field, AI risks exacerbating biases and undermining efforts to combat Islamophobia and racism. Studying a Masters in Data Science would equip me with the technical knowledge to understand how AI can be used to improve outcomes for British Muslim communities and wider society.

As a Data Professional in the Civil Service, I hope I can better engage with data to inform policy decisions such that they do not exacerbate prejudice against British Muslims and ethnic minorities.
