University of Liverpool joins Preferred Partner Scheme

The Aziz Foundation is delighted to announce that it will be offering Master’s scholarships at the University of Liverpool, where talented British Muslims can receive a scholarship to undertake postgraduate study.

The institution has become one of the Foundation’s Preferred Partners, having demonstrated their commitment in extending Widening Participation to the postgraduate level as well as providing tailored academic and pastoral support to its Muslim student population.

The University is a leader in increasing access to higher education and is in the top three Russell Group universities for widening participation. It has numerous schemes of support in place at the postgraduate level including the ‘Postgraduate Opportunity Bursary’ which is designed to financially support student progression.

Furthermore, initiatives have been established to close the degree awarding gap, including unconscious bias and equality and diversity training mandatory for all staff. The institutional aim set is to eliminate the awarding gap by 2024/2025, with recent data showing that the degree attainment percentage gap decreased to 6% in 2020/21 from 9.5% in 2017/18.

The University is committed to tackling Islamophobia on campus, offering social support to British Muslims through a Muslim chaplain who delivers briefing/awareness sessions. There is also a dedicated prayer room on campus.
