King’s College London is determined to eradicate all forms of learner inequality in order to make it as inclusive an institution as possible. Its student demographics reflect the diversity of London, with 54% of the total student population from minoritised communities.
With 40% of its undergraduates from disadvantaged backgrounds, King’s College is heavily invested in widening participation and access, pioneering a contextual admissions process and committed, through its Access and Participation Plan, to closing the awarding gap by 2024/5. In conjunction with this, it is currently reviewing how its Student Services engage with diverse communities and training provision is in place for all staff to aid them in developing more inclusive curricula.
The University has adopted Chris Allen’s – the academic expert in Islamophobia Studies – definition of Islamophobia as part of its drive to safeguard communities of faith on campus.
