Preferred Partners in Focus: London south bank university
LSBU has been running its ‘No Barriers to Brilliance’ philanthropic campaign since 2019. It seeks to address the pressing need of students and communities on campus through its bursaries and targeted financial support. The includes 10 scholarships with the Lawrence Burrow Educational Trust Fund and bursaries exclusively for care givers. This is an important intervention, as 63% of its student population are from deprived neighbourhoods and 46% from BME backgrounds.
The institution is also commencing a collaboration with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion specialists the Bridge Group, in order to strengthen the range of interventions and initiatives targeted at BME students.
