Preferred Partners in Focus: markfield institute of higher education (MIHE)
The Markfield Institute of Higher Education, in Leicestershire, is a leading Islamic institute well placed to increase access to postgraduate courses in Islamic disciplines for British Muslims from low-income backgrounds.
Since its inception in 2000, the Institute has been committed to ensuring higher education is accessible to BME students and those from lower socio-economic groups. The majority of MIHE’s students are those from lower socio-economic groups. The Institute also provides tailored academic and pastoral support to its student population. MIHE launched the Centre for Study of Wellbeing in 2021 with the aim to conduct research into contemporary wellbeing related matters faced by British Muslims and beyond.
The Markfield Institute is working to promote sustainability education. To encourage British Muslims to consider pathways in this sector, MIHE is offering a postgraduate course in sustainable development to increase visibility of British Muslims in this field.
